This thesis project is an exploration of involving Militant Design Research as an alternative approach to participatory processes in interaction design. It integrates the concepts of Ghosts, Haunting and Dark Moods to address affects within activist movements. The project is situated within the context of Malmö Students for Palestine, a grassroots, pro-Palestinian organisation operating within Malmö University.
Design process woven into a band.
Design process woven into a band.
The band pictured here uses four different colours to represent threads of this design process:
A red thread represents militant engagement; it comes
through when my militant role is present in the process.
Purple represents alliances outside of militancy that
support this project, yet are not as clearly defined.
White means my experiments, which often intertwine
with militancy.
Black represents my background that influences the
entire process, helps systematise it, but does not shift
much.
This thesis project concluded my education in the MSc in Interaction Design at Malmö University. It was supervised by Nicholas Baroncelli Torretta and examined by
Erik Sandelin
